Description

Interferon gamma-1b is a biologic immunomodulator used to reduce the frequency and severity of serious infections in patients with chronic granulomatous disease and severe malignant osteopetrosis. It enhances phagocyte function and has been studied in various primary immunodeficiencies with susceptibility to mycobacterial and viral infections. The drug activates macrophages and enhances antimicrobial activity.
